DONOR ADVISED FUND

We are eligible to receive donor advised funds. To donate, simply let your sponsoring organization know of your intention. Please be sure to give them the full name: Meals on Wheels of the Greater Lehigh Valley.

QUALIFIED CHARITABLE DISTRIBUTIONS (QCDs)

QCDs, also known as IRA Charitable Rollovers, are the savviest way for individuals age 70 ½ or older to use their IRAs to maximize charitable impact. Notify your IRA of your intention to donate to us and provide them with our name and address.  They will send a check directly to us with your name, allowing you to exclude the amount from taxable income.

STOCK TRANSFER GIFTS

Transferring stock can be a great way to provide support for people in need. There may be tax benefits associated with donating through a stock transfer. Please review and fill out our Guidelines for Transferring Funds or Stock. Contact Dina Kovats-Bernat, Director of Development and Communications, for more information.

CORPORATE MATCH TO MAKE YOUR $$ GO FURTHER

Many local employers such as Olympus, Air Products, and PPL have programs that provide a corporate match based on your donation. Check with your employer to see how to access the match. We are happy to provide any documentation or confirm your donation as needed.

IN-KIND

We accept limited in-kind gifts. Please contact Dina Kovats-Bernat, Director of Development and Communications, to coordinate drop-off and confirm that your gift will be accepted. MOWGLV generally accepts new full-sized toiletries (16 oz or less, but not hotel-size), pens, tablets, bars of soap, knitted items, and gift baskets for raffle. Due to our specific menu designed by a nutritionist, we are unable to accept food donations of any kind for the meals prepared for our clients. However, we do accept specific shelf stable food items for our emergency food boxes. Please contact us for a list of approved food drive and toiletry drive items. If you would like to declare a value for tax purposes, please complete this Gift-in-Kind form and include with your donation.

GIFTS IN MEMORY OR HONOR

You may feel like celebrating a birthday, honoring a Meals on Wheels volunteer, remembering a loved one who received meals or giving an “in memory of” gift as a lasting tribute to a loved one who has passed. Any gift given through any of the giving methods can be in honor or memory of a loved one. Please just let us know. We do our best to locate and notify the next of kin of your generosity but it is always appreciated if you provide a mailing address for any specific person you would like us to notify.

Should you wish to include this information in an obituary, here is a sample writeup:

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Meals on Wheels of the Greater Lehigh Valley. Please include a note stating that your gift is in memory of [your loved one]. Checks should be payable to MOWGLV and mailed to:
Meals on Wheels of the Greater Lehigh Valley
1302 N Sherman Street
Allentown, PA 18109

We also ask that the family let us know the address of the family member who would like to receive notifications of the donations as they come in. Please email Mary Link and include the name of the “Loved One,” the name of the family member and the family member’s address.
