Meals on Wheels GLV volunteer, Jim Glancy has been awarded the 2021 Outstanding Senior Award by the Northampton County Area Agency on Aging. Jim has been a volunteer with MOW for 23 years. He has given more than 1,800 hours to our organization and has driven over 18,000 miles delivering meals to homebound seniors and people with disabilities throughout Northampton County. During the pandemic, Jim continued to volunteer with MOW four days a week. Jim is more than willing to do two routes a day when needed or run an extra meal out to a client who is in need. Jim notices many of the clients are alone and they appreciate the opportunity to speak to someone. Over the years many of the clients have become friends with Jim.
Jim’s dedication and overall compassion and concern for members of his community make him a terrific volunteer and a valued member of the Lehigh Valley community.
Congratulations Ted & Joan! The MOWGLV volunteer couple has been awarded the 2021 Unsung Hero Award sponsored by the Lehigh County Office of Aging and Adult Services. For over 22 years, Ted & Joan have quietly and selflessly delivered meals to seniors and people with disabilities in Lehigh County. Volunteering every Wednesday and Friday on their regular routes, they have become familiar faces and good friends to the clients they serve. They have volunteered over 1,000 hours and driven 7,500 miles to reach the people who depend on Meals on Wheels. This adds up to more than 6,300 home-delivered meals! The impact they have on these clients is twofold: delivering nutritious food while simultaneously providing a vital connection to the outside world, a connection that proved more essential than ever during COVID. With humility, kindness, and compassion, this remarkable couple has improved the lives of countless people.
Thank you Ted & Joan for your dedicated service to our community and seniors in need!
